Steve Harthun

A 1973 Crater High graduate, Steve participated in basketball, track, was an active member of the Letterman’s club, ranked academically in top 5% of his class and was a camp counselor at outdoor school for District 6 grade school kids.  In addition he was a summer counselor/coach at the Pilot-Trailblazer basketball camp and also for University of Oregon-Dick Harter basketball Camp in Eugene.  Steve was a three time high school All-Conference and All State basketball player and was a top 5 scorer and rebounder as a sophomore, junior and senior in the Southern Oregon Conference.  Attending Southern Oregon State College, he was named First team All-Conference basketball player his junior and senior years.  He scored over 1100 points during his career at SOSC and led the conference in points scored his senior year.  He once made a school record of 14 consecutive field goals in a conference game with Eastern Washington.

Steve graduated with a degree in finance at Southern Oregon State College in 1977.  He spent most of his professional life in the Insurance business as a claims adjuster, special claims representative, property and casualty underwriter in Sacramento, San Jose, Medford, Salem and Bend.  Now retired, Steve has involved himself over the years in the communities as a YMCA Youth Coach, Medford Little League, Elks Club and Applegate Christian Fellowship.

He has been married to his wife, Debbie, for over 36 years.  They have three grown children, Nicole 31, Michael 28, Brian 25, and four grandchildren.
