Sheri Hilton

Class of 1982.  Sheri earned 10 varsity letters in gymnastics, basketball and track. Sheri was named Most Valuable Player four consecutive years in gymnastics and was one of the few Crater gymnasts to qualify for the Oregon Open. She was District Champion in the vault three consecutive years and District All Around Champion two consecutive years.

In track Sheri was named the Most Valuable player two consecutive years and won the district high jump and hurdles her senior year. She led one of our best track teams in history in scoring, accumulating 207 points throughout the year. She placed in both the hurdles and the high jump at the state meet in 1982. Later that year Sheri won the Oregon and Regional High School Heptathalon Championship and finished fourth in the U.S. High School National Championships.

Sheri attended Clackamas Junior College where she became one of the best junior college athletes in the nation. She received the prestigious Dale Murphy Scholarship in 1982 and won a national title in the javelin and finished fourth in the heptathalon. She still holds the Clackamas school record in the javelin.

She then attended University of Arizona where she received a full scholarship in track and field. At U of A she competed against the best the world had to offer and finally ended her career, finishing second in the PAC 10 championships.

Today, Sheri lives in Gresham, Oregon with her two sons and is still helping young people as a personal trainer.
