Darryl Clift

A 1982 Crater graduate, Darryl Clift was a superb high school athlete as a three-sport athlete and was a two-year letterman in football, basketball and track.

Darryl was voted the MVP of the football team his senior year, and was voted to the 1st team All-Conference Team.  He still holds the school record for most rushing yards in a game with 315.  He was selected to the All-State First Team in football his senior year and second team his junior year.  He was a member of the Shrine All-Star team that played in Portland his senior year.  He was the starting guard for the basketball team his junior and senior years and went to the state playoffs his senior year.

In track he was the Most Valuable track athlete his junior and senior years. He was District track champion in 1981 and 1982 in the 100, 200, 400M relay and 1600M relay.  He was a member of the 1982 State Champion 400M relay team. (Craig Renfro, Brian Calmer, DJ Bransom).  He also placed 2nd in the 100M at the 1982 State meet; 2nd place in the 1600M relay in the 1982 State meet; 4th place in the 200m at the 1982 State meet.  He still holds the Crater school 100M record of 10.7, a time that is still in the top 20 in the state of Oregon.


Following high school graduation, Darryl attended Oregon State University on a track scholarship.  In 1986, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Communications from Oregon State University.

He began his professional career when he became Senior Trailer Editor for Warner Bros. Pictures, Burbank; then as Trailer Editor for Universal Pictures, Universal City, then to Creative Editor for FOX Television Network, Century City; to Creative Marketer – Disney, Burbank; to

Executive Director Worldwide Creative Advertising for Sony Pictures, Culver City; to Creative Marketing Consultant for Los Angeles; to VP Creative for Doublewide Creative Agency, Los Angeles.  Today, Darryl is the Creative Director/Editor for Mentality Creative Advertising, Santa Barbara.


Darryl has received eleven entertainment industry awards including an Emmy. “I have helped market over 260 films that have a box office gross of more than $3 billion worldwide.  I have also helped market numerous television shows.”
