2007 Crater Softball Team

The 2007 Crater Softball team finished the season as State Champions with a 27-3 overall record, the most successful season in program history. This group finished Southern Sky Conference play with a 15-1 record, ranked 2nd overall in the state. They began their state playoff run by defeating Hillsboro 9-5. Following that, they took on the state’s #1 ranked team, Churchill, in Eugene, for a much-anticipated quarterfinal matchup. The Comets prevailed in a tight 1-0 ballgame, moving into the state semifinals against Corvallis. Once again, the Comets used brilliant pitching and timely hitting to defeat the Spartans 4-0 and move into the State Championship game in Corvallis at Oregon State University.

There, the Comets took on the Glencoe Crimson Tide, and behind the pitching of Ashleigh Cuddie, successfully claimed their first-ever State Championship with a 7-5 victory. The 2007 Crater Softball team benefitted from strong senior leadership and team confidence that was second to none.
