A 1964 Crater graduate, Ray White was a student-athlete who was involved in many aspects and in many ways as a student at Crater High School.  He was Student Body President and the State President for the Future Teachers of America.  He lettered in football and basketball and was named to the All-Conference First Team his senior year in football.  He was also the defensive captain his junior and senior years.  He was named “Best Personality” his senior year by his graduating class.

Upon graduation, Ray attended Pacific University for a year, transferred to Southern Oregon College (now University) and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 1969.  He then entered the University of Oregon School of Law and in 1972 received his degree in law.

Ray began his professional career as a Senior Deputy District Attorney for Jackson County.  In 1981 he became a Circuit Court Judge for the Circuit Court of the State of Oregon for Jackson County.  He remained in that position for 29 years retiring in 2010.  After retiring, he became a Senior Judge for the State for the State of Oregon, traveled statewide filling in for judges in other counties.  He retired the second time from that position in 2015.  He was named with honors “Administrative Judge for the Criminal Division” upon his last retirement.

Ray became a loyal University of Oregon Duck Football fan and over the years made numerous trips throughout the US to watch the “Ducks” play.  He tells us, “There is never a dull moment watching the ducks, but it was difficult to watch them lose in some really big games”.  However, he wouldn’t change those experiences for anything.
