A 1964 Crater High graduate, Bob lettered in football and basketball for four years and track for two years. He was also active with the Crater Letterman’s Club and served as Vice President his senior year.  Upon graduation from Crater, Bob attended the University of Oregon, graduating in 1968 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration.  In July of 1968 he entered the U.S. Army and was commissioned a 2^nd Lieutenant in the Infantry in 1969.

Upon discharge from the military in 1971 Bob began his long and successful career with JELD-WEN, then a small millwork company based in Klamath Falls.  From his beginnings as a shift supervisor on the night shift he progressed to General Manager of the company’s 2 operations in Susanville, California in 1982.  In 1988 he was promoted to Division Vice President and in 1994 became a Senior Vice President and was elected to the company’s board of directors.  In 1999 he became Executive Vice President and COO responsible for all operations globally.  By 2007 JELD-WEN was manufacturing in 41 states and 22 foreign countries and had 26,000 employees.

Bob was elected Vice Chairman of JELD-WEN’s board in 2007 and Chairman in 2010.

After 41 years with the company he retired in 2012.

Bob served on the Oregon Institute of Technology Foundation Board from 1996-2004; the JELD-WEN Foundation Board from 1994-2014; the University of Oregon Foundation Board from 2005-2012 and currently serves on the Britt Festivals Board and the Wendt Family Foundation Board.

In 1966 Bob wed 1965 Crater High graduate Linda Walker Turner.  They have 2 sons and 5 grandchildren.  Bob and Linda enjoy time with family and friends, golf and travel, and staying involved with Crater High School and the Crater Foundation.
